Sadly too far south for me. Love that Etta solo, very cool.

Post up when you get the new album done.
Greg.

Sadly Colne Blues Festival is a mere shadow of it's former self. In the mid - late 90's it was absolutely fantastic and extremely diverse. Since the old promoter left and the new ones have taken over, the same bands often seem to be booked to play the main stages year after year. The music is more Rock Blues than anything else these days too, as that's what the promoters are into.

Kingley, I think you made the same complaint last year. Undoubtedly, there are many acts which could be termed blues-rock - it's an issue which is commented on fairly frequently and is often the case with many of the larger festivals these days, for better or worse.

However, there is still plenty of stuff for people who aren't interested in that kind of thing. We certainly play blues rather than rock, as do many of my friends and acquaintances who are also booked to play.

Chinaski - Maybe the promoters have finally started listening to the audiences and stepped out of the rock blues bubble a little bit.

Having looked at this years Roadhouse line up I see that the Geordie lads Lee Bates and Billy Newton are playing a couple of gigs. They are really worth checking out, especially if you're a fan of Sonny and Brownie. Also of course Johnny Hewitt and Tommy Allen are playing a couple of gigs. On the international stage Mud Morganfield is well worth seeing.

Let's hope that the promoters keep booking more diverse acts and get back to the heady days of the 1990's when the festival was the highlight of most blues fans year.

There's good stuff in there for those attending all weekend. We have limited time with two consecutive gigs, so not sure how much else we'll catch in one day.

We've met Mud Morganfield a couple of times and would definitely recommend seeing him - in fact, we may be supporting him when he comes through Yorkshire in January.

Steve Cropper, Mavis Staples, Jack Bruce and Wilko Johnson would be among the main stage names well worth catching too, regardless of whether they're considered purely blues artists.

Hey Paul, be good to see ya if you can make one of our gigs. Definitely catch Mud Morganfield if you can - if we're able to hang around afterwards that's where we'll be :)

Yeah, Steve is on harp duties - there's no UK player better suited for that job, in my opinion..
