I've never been to the venue, but the Tedeschi Trucks Band (11-piece) put on an awesome show last month in Durham, NC. I liked the live experience much better than their album.

Can't help you with the venue but I saw their show two weeks ago here in Chattanooga. Very diverse song selection. VERY good show. The big dude with the afro can sing his a** off. Derek is sooo smooth and such a pro at running the band. Don't miss it. We are headed to Knoxville on Friday for Johnny Winter.

Been to Portland MANY times over the years and couldn't picture this venue, I believe it's fairly new.

Looks like a really small venue, which of course is ultra cool for music events.

BTW LOVE ST & DT...sounds like a great night.

Tedeschi Trucks Band is also playing in Maryland at the "Hot August Blues Fest" in a couple of weeks- we went last year- great show (Keb Mo and Lyle Lovett were headliners) but really, really hot in the sun all day.

I hope Johnny Winter has a bit more in him that when we saw him last. Blues Cruise Jan. 2010 he was pretty dissipointing. The rest of the band pretty much held him up. He never made it to the fan appreciation nite to sign autographs, either.

On the same note, last time I saw BB King, it was about an hour of his band playing (fantastic), about 20 minutes of BB story telling, and 1-2 songs with BB. That was the show.

You gotta quit when you're on top-

Harpcrab- I hope Johnny does too. Bill Wax made the comment that he was feeling alot better and playing really well right now. So, fingers crossed. As for B.B.- We saw him last Oct. at "The King Biscuit Blues Festival" and it was, as you say, alot of the band playing, alot of talking, he would play a couple of licks and sing a verse, then back to the top. His licks and verses were really strong BB but the band, as good as they were, got tiresome.

show was great last night - incredible collection of talented musicians w/great horn section - however much more 'soul/funk' than blues - and no old S.T. or Allman Bros. songs at all (set list was a little bit disappointing - although they Sly Stone songs were fun!).

I have tickets at a wonderful outdoor venue on the 28th..can't wait! Derek is my favorite musician. I've been fortunate to see him with the Allmans and his own band. Last time I got to meet him and chat for a few minutes.

DT's uncomparable slide playing and ST's vocals are a match made in heaven.

Barry, I think the set depicts more of Dereks taste rather than Allman Brothers. Don't get me wrong, I like the Allman Bro. too, but if you listen to more of his stuff, it's more in line with the show.

On another note, The Johnny Winter show was very good! Too bad not enough people wanted to get up and have fun. In this area the show goers seems content to just sit and listen.

Thanks for the replies. The venue was outdoors by the ferry terminal. Great show, if you have the opportunity to see them, don't pass it up.
