Hi guys i have the chance to buy one of these mics, are they rated for harp and what are they like as a vocal mic?
How do they compare with Shures SM57 & 58 mics?

Here is a link to a youtube video of guy on Ebay who sells mics all the time. He is playing that mic.

I keep getting outbid on all the mics lately.

Great harp mic. Not so good for vocals. Thicker in the midrange than a Shure 57 or 58, higher gain output, not as clean and a little more prone to feedback. But very warm sounding with a really nice tone for harp.

I should imagine they will be better than the SM57 & SM58 if it is that overdriven Chicago sound you want, I guess it depends on what your plugging it into

I have the exact same model as in the video above, an Electrovoice 660A, that's the one with the gray finish. I bought it directly from Ron Sunshine(didn't bid on it), and have been extremely satisfied.

atty1chgo how much did you pay and how long ago did you get it?, do you use it for vocals as well as harp and if so how is it for singing?

Some of them (model 660 without the "A")have a very shiny satin chrome finish. They are a little heavy, but the shape of the "head" makes them comfortable to grip. They are hotter than a Shure 57 or 58. The 660 is not a particularly good vocal mic. You can usually find them for $100 or less.
