Lately I've been playing more and more PB harp. I haven't been able to play it so much previously as I've been playing more with my band, doing the record etc and the different tuning makes it a bit confusing. However, no that I've played all my parts in the record etc I've been able to concentrate fully on this one.

First of all I have to say I love the 1st position on this one. The second is great too, especially in the upper octave, but the switch from the richter that happens from hole 5 onwards is a bit confusing at first. However, I've beginning to learn to appreciate the possibility to use the 4 draw as a 5 blow too - it can give some options with the breath patterns. The headshake with 5&6 blow feels a bit odd comapred to the regular 4&5 draw, but it's not so bad.

Another things that I've been doing is the half-valving. I haven't been OBing at all as this one is totally half-valved. I have learned how to maintain the valved bends so in theory I'm able to play this fully chromatic. However, the OB's are easier to "attack" and get good volume. I suppose the practice will make the valved bends better too of course. At this phase I'm not sure which one to use - the half-valving or OBs, both have their advantages and disadvantages. The clear advantage of half-valving is the ability to band ALL the draws & blows. The disadvantage is the missing attack and the missing possibility to bend the valved bend further..

Anyway, the PB tuning is really good. It gives me all the time new ideas for melodies etc. 3rd position is also really nice one in the upper octave and I use some other positions too (which I haven't figured out what position they exactly are). This new tuning certainly keeps the motivation to play up and running... :)

I've played powerbender exclusively since I learned about it after SPAH last year. I made most keys from Golden Melodies using adhesive putty. I really liked the expression and the chromaticism I could get from the middle octave but I've grown tired of avoiding the dissonance the 4-5 draw and not having draw chords available in that part of the harp and I have removed all the adhesive putty and gone back to Richter this past week. I feel much more relaxed with chording now.
