Michael I am enjoying your meat and potatoes. I started at number 1 the other day. and have got to about 20. They are a great reminder of stuff I did at school as well as some stuff I didn't know or in a different way. I have one question Your terminology of whole and half step - is that the American way, or your way or a harmonica way? I was taught tone and semi-tone, the scale being two halves of tone tone semitone joined by a tone ie tone tone semitone, ton,e tone tone semitone. I can't remember the reasoning behind it being two identical halves, but there was something.
It is a bit like when I was in a big band [trombone] and we had a good trombone player with us, he was Australian and could read music well as well as improvise. One night he said to me "what's he [the MD] talking about? quavers and crotchets?" I thought he was taking the mickey but suddenly remembered that some countries refer to whole and half notes.
Someone has indexed Jason Ricci's videos by hair colour, are your's done by facial hair or t shirt colour :^)
Nice! Watched your videos up to nr.07 now. Got a little bit confusing with the Dallas thing for me who hasn't played any other instrument haha! I'll give it another try soon though
Shajan, That is just a way to remember the names of the notes in the draw holes. Dog Gone Big Dallas Ft.Worth Airport Big Dallas Ft.Worth Airport. The first word is Dog. Dog starts with D. Therefore 1 draw is D. The second word is Gone. Gone starts with G, therefore 2 draw is G. You can come up with your own or just remember D G B D FA B D F A. Thanks to everyone who is enjoying the videos!
