I was checking out the new hohner blue midnight on their website. It looks kinda cool and I am thinking of getting one. I always liked the MS series believe it or not. When I scrolled down a bit I read this. "– Trademark blue plastic comb allows for slightly brighter tone than standard black plastic combed models." are they saying the color of the comd is going to change the tone? We know material can't change tone, but color? Is hohner just having a little fun with us?

I just had a look at their website, and I don't think they meant that the colour has an effect on the tone, but I see what you mean.
I think it's more likely to be a case of the most poorly worded load of marketing shpeel that Hohner, or just about anyone for that matter, has come up with in a long time.
Also, I get the impression that much of their literature is aimed at a lowest common denominator readership, which, given the size of their distribution, I can understand. By that, I mean that if they used the kind of language found on harp forums then a lot of potential customers wouldn't have the slightest clue what they were talking about. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that thought does occur to me. ---------- YouTube SlimHarpMick

I can tell you that the comb was a different structural design from their standard black plastic comb. How it was different I don't recall, as I gave the comb away to a student of mine. If memory serves me correct the comb was hollow and each of the chambers had a horizontal divider in it (I may be wrong about that) I never played it with the blue comb in it so I can't speak to how it sounded, but I suppose had I tried I wouldn't have heard any difference. I do like the reeds better than the standard MS ----------
