I hope I spelled his name correctly. He used to be archivist/file clerk at U of Mississippi in the blues/history department. Walter was teaching an Elderhostel class in Blues History at Augusta Heritage Center Blues Week about 15 years ago. I wandered into his class one day and became hooked, staying the rest of the week. He really had a logical way of putting everything into perspective regarding the evolution of the blues, including factoring in political, economic and regional aspects. Walter also played excellent guitar and rack harmonica. He was originally from Sweden or Denmark.
I am interested in finding out what happened to him since he left his post at the University.
He is the one that said that the file clerks really have the power over history, as they can "misfile" certain information to effectively erase it from a database.
