I feel sure that some of you guys have done the research on this already. I'd like to have something small like the flip with decent audio. Something that will create a decent video with audio for posting to websites, Youtube, etc.
Thanks,
Jay

These were shot with a Flip Mino HD.

Is it the best? No. It cost about $120. For that price, I am moderately happy with the results.

I'm a big fan of the zoom audio reocrders. I would check out the Q3HD. I've heard a lot of Flip cameras distort if it's too loud, but the video looks really good if you can figure it out.

This was recorded on my Kodak zi8 with a Tascam TM-ST1 plugged into the mic input.

Kodak Zi8 filled all my requirements. Small, easy to use, point and shoot, excellent quality video even at the lowest setting (WVGA ideal for YouTube). Excellent sound quality (you can plug in a stereo mic) but the built in mic is ample for me.

You can see examples of videos I have shot with it here.

They were all filmed on the lowest quality setting and edited with Magix Movie edit Pro.

There's a new model Kodak with a line-in, similar to the Zi8, I saw it in BestBuy-I'll edit this with the model number when I get a chance.

NOTE:Flip cameras are no longer made! Cisco will no longer support the existing ones, either, so while you can get them cheap now, they're no longer continuing the line. Limited support will remain available until 2013, according to the site.

@Honkin On Bobo - It's me. Thanks for the kind words.

@toddlgreene - The Flip cameras were never upgradeable. Personally, I've never used the software. I just the files directly into iMovie.

While Cisco is dropping the product, they will continue to support it. Here is a link to their statement on the future of Flip support.

I like the feature set of the Zi8. Being able to use an SD card is a nice feature.

Joe-there's another Flip-type I saw at BestBuy the other day with a 1/8" audio line in. I thought it was a Kodak, but now I'm not certain. I'll look online, or maybe stop by BB on my way home.

@todd - Personally, I was disappointed to see Cisco drop that product line. It's a cool little camera. It's light. It's small. It easily fits into a pocket. It's so small that I forget where I put it. The quality of the video is good enough for youtube. If it was to die a premature death due to my own carelessness, I would probably get another one. (I've been considering attaching it to a kite or the front of my car.)

The prices for some of the older models are super low on amazon. The model I own is now selling for $59 with free shipping. It's hard to beat that price.

I was carrying it everywhere for a couple of months.
