http://youtu.be/-jY8Z16Q2UA I think it's the clip posted by Joe_L. John Nemeth is good but Kid is awesome, his sound and also the lick the he use to accompany John's singing is just too cool. I've been watching this one more than 50 times in the past two months.. to me Kid's the best right now for the west coast blues guitarist.

Just saw The Kid with Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. He was awesome as usual - played a very impressive solo with his teeth - matched only in showmanship by Rick playing a harp solo using no hands - must have used at least 7 holes - very impressive - and of course he holds his hands up in the air and the crowd goes wild.

John gave me those DVD's and I asked him if he would mind if I posted them on youtube. He agreed. They were shot for a local cable TV channel.

That whole band is filled with monster talent and are a great bunch of guys. The rhythm section of Kedar Roy and Paul Revelli are fantastic as well.

Kid Andersen is a fantastic guitarist. Recently, I saw him play a guitar strung left handed and play it as good (or better) than many left handed guitar players. One time, I was playing with him and we were doing a slow Muddy Waters tune. He was playing the slide parts without a slide. Of course, it sounded like he was using a slide.

A few years ago, RJ Mischo hired Kid Andersen and Steve Freund to play a New Year's Eve show. RJ cut the two of them loose on a couple of tunes. It was phenomenal. I didn't have a video camera with me that day. I think I have an audio recording of that night.

John's current band with AC Myles playing guitar is fantastic, too.

There are a lot of great players on the West Coast.

Man oh man....this Nemeth is sensational. "Blues In My Heart"....fantastic.
He's got it all, poise, play, presence, and a killer voice. And he looks his audience dead in the eye!!
I do not want to have to follow him on a show...not in this lifetime.
This is what I meant by "you either got cool or you don't...faking won't get there". Champions like this are BORN...not made.
Notice how he doesnt try to portray the "downtrodden old black guy"...he just wails the blues.
That "button quiver" is something I have been using for years in selected spots. This guy is NOOOOO dummy.
First time I ever saw him. What a treat!
First order of business for me is to steal his solo on Blues In My heart, note for note, and use it in my version of "Black Night".
What a show!
Regards and total respect for Mr. Nemeth.

Excellent observations, Jehosaphat!
The old blues players, ONCE THEY GOT DECENT PAYING GIGS, all wore better suits than an accountant.
I never saw one yet who didnt look soooooooooo clean, with a honey on each arm, diamonds and jewels, and a big Cadillac. (unless they were on the way down)
The key was getting those gigs and the do-re-me.
Furthermore, they did now wallow or dwell in socio-political horsedung (unlike many who claim to be the "big shots" today.)
I remember that Jimmy Reed could captivate and have a crowd screaming with one extended note in the high register.
Regards,
Joe Lee

Yeah, talking about suits, I've seen Rick Estrin live a few times and that boy dresses to the hilt for a show! Sharp suits, even has a song about going shopping for a new suit and his credit bounces! Wrap it up, man! I told my brother to google Rick once while I was en route to his show, as he knows little about the blues, and he texted back with "he's a real hip cat". Dated or not, thats a perfect description of Rick and the old school blues guys.
