Heading out to work in a few minutes but wanted to post a quick endorsement for Robert Hale "Duke of Wail" and his harp lessons. From an earlier post he made on MBH I won a free 30 minute lesson with him over Skype. He was thorough in trying to inquire as much as he could about my current skill level before the lesson, emailing me a survey of skills and asking for a video/audio clip if available. He also emailed several worksheets with drills to work on before the lesson. I thought these were one of the best things he offered, as I had actual notated licks with tabs underneath for working on 1st, 5th, and 12th position licks.
The lesson itself went smoothly, albeit pretty short. He has an excellent ability to give clear and understandable instructions, as well as demonstrate the desired outcome. I feel that if you are a beginner or early intermediate you would benefit greatly from at least trying out a Skype lesson with Robert. I feel like I may be just above the playing level that would benefit from regular lessons from him (though I may schedule a couple here or there), but if you are still working on some basics he will definitely point you in the right direction, something I wish I had when I first started. And at $30/hr is lessons are much cheaper than a lot of other options out there.
On a side note, this was the first lesson I ever had on Skype and for all those weary of how one may turn out- don't be! It went smooth and the audio was real clear. Every once in a while the video would pause for a second or two, but other than that it was almost like being there.
