I've just added a new date to my brief summer tour that may be of interest to some here. On Wednesday, August 3, I'll be teaming up with Charlie Hilbert to give a clinic in Philadelphia entitled "New York Blues Harp: Learning from Nat Riddles." The venue is the London Grill:

http://www.londongrill.com/

The event lasts from 7 to 10 PM. The clinic portion will run roughly two hours, followed by a break and a 45-minute set. I'll be in one-man-band mode, so this will be the first time that Charlie and I, blues buddies for more than two decades, will be appearing in our guise as a two-man orchestra.

Charlie, as y'all know, was Nat's guitarist for many years. I'll be centering the evening on a handful of songs that Nat either played himself or encouraged me to play, by artists including John Lee Williamson, Big Walter Horton, and Kim Wilson, along with his own version of "John Henry."

I'm very excited about this event. It's my only scheduled appearance with Charlie in 2011.

Jeff Silverman is organizing the event. Further details to come. If you'd like to pre-purchase a ticket, you should contact him directly: jeff@harmonica411.com

"New York Blues Harp: Learning from Nat Riddles."

This one sounds like a good one. The ins and outs of what Nat Riddle's taught? And conveniently a week before SPAH too. I have to double check my calendar but I'm sure to be there (esp since I couldn't make HCH)!
