Philly great Jimmy Smith with Kenny Burrell.
Imagine playing with this kind of Rhythm section.

Should be noted (in danger of stating the obvious) that Jimmy Smith plays bass with his left hand and foot - there is no bass player other than him. It's absolutely amazing.

Can I also flag the midnight Blue album by Kenny Burrell... for me, the best jazz/blues album of all.... Kenny on guitar, some smoking tenor sax from Stanley Turrentine... great grooves.... stunning

Yeah left hand and foot in the organ trio tradition.
It continues in philly today.
I saw jimmy play live in philly in
small club in germantown.

Another philly guy Joey Defrancesco
Nominated for a grammy.

These are some guys that play around the
corner from me that I jam with on the first
tuesday of the month. The Budesa Brothers.
It must be the water that breeds the organ trios.LOL

Since 2003 Steve Winwood has been touring without a bass player playing punchy R&B style bass lines with his left foot and left hand on the Hammond organ and he sounds better than many bass guitar players. He also used to do this with Traffic when Traffic toured as a trio.
