Adam's solo harp playing with foot drum has inspired me to buy a similar set up from Pete Farmer.

However, it looks like Adam's foot drum has a wooden base that extends to the sides so that he is able to attach his two foot pedals.

The foot drums on the Farmer website don't appear to have this wooden piece. Is it an older model or is it something optional that Pete will include?

Also, does anyone know the accessories that Adam uses on the foot pedals (jingle stick, egg stick shaker)?

Hi H-Man,

I'm certainly no expert, but here's what I think I know. I had checked out Farmer foot drums when Adam first got his (a year or so ago?). I just visited their website a few weeks ago and it appeared to me that they have all new products now. I don't think you can buy Adam's exact setup any more. I'm assuming you're interested in a bass drum and foot pedal combo (the full blown foot drum kit is $1500!).

The base drum is definitely different. In fact, I'm not all that sure that Adam's is a bass drum. The bass drum currently offered looks a lot...bassier....

Adam's foot pedal looks to be a different model than what's currently offered. It just has tambourine/jingly bells inside it, as far as I know. I think the model with all those attachments is new.

Here's a close up of Adam's set up, I took it last month at the "Crossroads" during HCH 2. You can see that the foot pedals just flank the drum, and the drum is held in place with bunjee cords attached to his seat. Adam has posted that he had to to do this because the drum would creep while playing. I guess maybe some product improvements were in order after all, as the new drum has feet designed to keep it from moving.

Looks like you can get a pretty cool set up for about $400. I haven't done it, but I will definitely buy a farmer foot pedal when the lowboy comes out of prototype. That looks so cool!

If you're looking for something cheaper, search the forum for DIY footdrums--there's some great information on building your own percussion.

I looked into this product line when it first came out. It was way too expensive. Why not just buy some real drums? I use the cheapest pedals out there and they have lasted decades. Drums can be had real cheap nowadays as well. Here is a kit if you are looking for compact. When you bang hard on a kick pedal it will run away from you. That is why drummers always play on a rug that they can ding the spikes on the pedals into. Walter
