Hello all. I'm having one of those nights where I can't sleep even though today was a looong one. I felt compelled to make a video and share. I don't know the name of this ditty. I picked it up from a video I saw a while back of Greg Zlap. I welcome only negative criticism...no wait...just kidding. I welcome any comments. Thanks. Maybe now I can sleep.
I also have a question for those who play over a backing track in your videos. What program do you use? I've tried using a backing track but it really doesn't sound great piping through the mic on my computer. Do I just need to find the right music volume formula? ---------- Brad
I used to use just my webcam with its inbuilt mic, but then that overode my pc soundcard output so that the backing track playing on the pc was muted and wouldn't come out on the recording. So I had to have the backing track sound coming out of my speakers and recording back through the webcam mic which is not always the best as you say.
I eventually decided to not to use the webcam mic, but got a separate mic and went through a mixer into line in on my pc, in this way the backing track is recorded direct from the pc and the mic picks up just your harp work and it is much better.
I have now added another element by attaching my mic to a vox Da5 5w amp (I can add reverb, delay etc., with this) then line out to my mixer then into the pc. ----------------- Hadn't heard that song on the vid before, nice playing btw.
Thanks Greyowl. I appreciate the input. I always enjoy your videos. I've got a friend who's got a mixer. I'll have to borrow it and do some playing around. Plus I've had my eye on a little amp for a while. Guess it wouldn't hurt to finally take the plunge. Thanks again.
---------- Brad

you can use audacity then play the track through earphones while you play and record on top of it.. you can also do some studio type looping with this and some creative editing.
if you want a video of it, play the same thing with the backing track, then synch the sound with the video.. or just create a sound file and put it in drop box and embed that link.
