i thought it was an interesting one because some members around here have been asking about blues chromatic, and hard attack.. this sounds like bob is using a hard attack, but probably not, it is just his technique dirtying up the sound.... you are right xharp, when bob says something, it is wise to listen!

That was way too cool. Thanks for sharing Walter and thanks for playing, Bob! I've got alot to learn from this track.

What key Chrom are you playing? I'm sitting here using a B diatonic in 3rd... which puts the song in Db... is it a B chrom? This is an area I don't understand. Please enlighten me.

This is an early mix of what is on my CD and the label owner had unknowingly slowed the speed down by mistake because I'm playing (when this was recorded) a Super 64 (not the Super 64X), which only comes in C, and I'm playing in D.

The drummer at the time was heavily into Rod Piazza's band, especially the drummer at the time, Jimi Bott, who's one of the best blues drummers around and what he wanted was to play the title song from Rod Piazza's old Harpburn Cd, and so rather than do that, I came up with what you hear, using the groove and feel but avoid copying. There's plenty of sax and B3 influences here and the head is sort of a variant of the opening licks of Roy Brown's Good Rocking Tonight and Hal Singer's Cornbread.

You will need to use the slide on this, unlike the way LW would do and this is big time George Smith influenced stuff.

Nothing is played hard, but the octaves are played as they are more by adjusting the embouchure and the inside shape of your mouth, something the average player never does because they tend to keep it stiff with a one size fits all aproach that always winds up failing them.
