HI ..I have been playing Blues harp for about a year and a half now...Chris Michaleks rendition of Mr . Magic is what I have always tried to play.
been practicing this tune for some time now..
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with the run from
1.15 to 1.18

I just cant figure it out..I play something that sound close but I know its not right

On You Tube click "share" then click "embed" then copy the URL then paste here. Much easier than playing Mr. Magic.

It will be hard to pull his notes out of this part of the solo, as he over/undershot his idea - in other words, there is no real musical line here, but sort of a stab at one....so, my advice is not to sweat these few seconds out.

Great track and Chris does a fantastic job on it. He's probably playing in 11th or 12th position. If you manage to emulate this after 18 months playing you deserve a medal!

I have to admit to preferring Jimi Lee's version:

I believe he plays this with a natural minor tuned harp. You'll find it easier to get close with one of those, but not a lot!

@Iceman , not sure if I really understood what u said..( hve a lot to learn n understand :) )

@Adam: I love this track..3rd position on a Bb harp works perfect , I liked the Jimi Lees version too..

for me , in the past 18 mnths i have learnt to bend , overblow and play tunes by ear. I always had a harp before that and would pick up and play some random tunes, so i was familiar with the harp. just learnt what a harp was capable of and saw players like Adam G, Jason Ricci,Chris ..18 months back!!

I managed to gather a lot of resources and stuff related to harp playing , but I have had major problems with concentrating or learning things step by step. always have.

I found my self getting overwhelmed by the amount of info out there and most of the time I turned to playing stuff over and over..
not knowing where to begin or what to practice...So now I pick up tracks I love and try playing those, and willl probably do that till I get ( afford) a teacher...

Ill post a clip of what i have been able to play /practice so far on this track..will appreciate some feedback!

1+ 1draw 2+ 2+ 2draw bent,/ 2draw bent 2+ 2draw 3draw bent full step 3draw 4draw. (all in those 3 secsonds on a Bb harp) is my take on it(with the help of a slowed down riff o matic) Hope it helps.

One of my favorite's harmonica videos, BTW. As mentioned, there's some fail in this line, don't worry compose that line.

This is definitely one of my favourite harp songs as well! So sad he's gone...

@Logansays:
Like others have said, don't worry too much about that line. Focus on other parts.

He plays it in 3rd position on a standard B-flat harp.

4 -4 5 -5 5 -4 -6 6 all in those 3 seconds
