If you're in Chicago, go to Artis's on Monday night. Walk up to Billy's amp and copy down the settings or just go and ask him. He's a super nice guy. In performance, Billy uses an Electro Voice 635A.

Those amps are super loud and pretty darn clean. I would ease into the volume with it. It won't be a very good amp for playing around the house.

If you aren't in Chicago, check out this video, but remember when he's playing at gigs, he's using the 635A.

Well, I haven't seen Billy since January. He was using the 635A at that time. He had been using the 635A for years. He told me that it matched up with the Special 130 and the two pedals very well.

The 635A doesn't have the bottom end of the RE-10. It's tone is a little bit brighter. It's shorter, less expensive and very easy to come by on ebay.

Finally, if you look at most of the performance videos of the SOB's on youtube from the mid 90's and later. He seems to have settled on the 635A. Take a look at the first Taildragger DVD. I would have to go and check photos, but I'm fairly sure.
