Thanks for posting, this. Great stuff. So, what would John and Annie have been doing there switching harps? Going from cross to something else?

Now THAT'S the way it's done. Tone Tone Tone Tone! And drummers take note: (in Don't Need You Anymore) NONE of that clang banging on those cymbals with you crashing and thumping back there like you were at a rock concert. Get it through your thick heads drummers! It ain't about YOU! When I'm on that point, it's about MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....and nobody else. They came to see MEEEEE, not you! You don't like that?...then get off the stage and leave! You're fired anyway and do not think I am going to pay you, either. Play some football and get it straight....you open the holes for me and I run for the score. NOT YOU!!! What a great piece of music these two are making there. (of course someone is just bound to say..."same old riffs we all know, etc etc etc....they need something newwwwwwwwwwwwww") And I say..."okay tough guy lets see YOU get your ass up there and do it like that", with me sitting there ready to rip you to shreds. One of the best videos ever posted on this site, in my opinion. Hot DAMN that's good music! Major league playing from the gate!
Annie Raines seems to be playing a Big River Harp (Low D) Not sure what her other harp is.
Not one overblow.
At 2:36 on, John Sebastian takes the lead and stays with the low-D although he has his D harp in hand too. He leaves *so* much space - so few notes, just lots of rich sound.
Not much stacks up to this, in my opinion. It's not complicated, but it's how it's done.
This is great stuff--even if you don't have issues with the drummer. . . ---------- ==================================== Always be yourself--unless you suck. . . -Joss Whedon
As JOELEEBUSH said,"Now THAT'S the way it's done. Tone Tone Tone Tone!" Thems some deep roots there. They brought out the best in each other, drew the audience in, and poured out somma dem blues. Wish I coulda been there.
