Personally I usually don't appreciate women blues singers (with a few exceptions).
But Willie Mae is one of my very favs. Her harp tone is damn good ,too!

I love Big Mama Thornton's album with the Muddy Waters band from 1966. She's an incredibly powerful singer and makes me almost shudder in fear when she sings "Big Black Rat." I downloaded it a few years ago, but honestly I didn't know she played harp! Maybe because Cotton is playing harp on this record.
Got any suggestions for another CD of hers I should get?

I love Big Mama! She had such a huge voice and she could hang with the big boys too. Check out this video of her with John Lee Hooker, Big Walter Horton and Dr Ross.

Don't forget JB Landers. He was a prolific bluesman. I love his tune, Mama, Talk To Your Daughter!
