?#1Any one out there know when the 1st Bassman reissues came out?
?#2 When did the 1st Bassman "limited" reissues come out? I can't find a hard date any where. I think the 1st reissues hit the market in 1990 but I'm not 100% sure. Mike

1990 for the RI...dunno for the Ltd, 2000-ish? you can tell the limited by the bias trim pot. It also has a pine cab & GZ34/5AR4 rectifier, however this will only really help identify one if the amp has the original rectifier (they never came with 5U4G for instance).
Later RIs were fitted with SICA Italian Jensen speakers...they still had the Blue Eminence 102 upto & including 1996, don't exactly know how much later the Jensens appeared.
Year isn't really critical, they all have the same audio circuit. The very first ones had a leather strap handle & green PCB, additional secondary fuses. Then came the cream board material and a primary fuse only, minor upgrade to voltage rating of bias supply caps, then the LTD added the tube rectifier (previously SS plug in) and a bias trim pot.
The Eminence 102 speakers are considered more desiable for harp.

I got mine in 1991. It looks like it was dragged through a swamp but it plays great!

@tmf714 I'm looking at the Sept-90 Reissue. I'm not looking for a Limited. This link shows another RI but the seller decription dosn't jive with the amp pictured. The speakers look like the ones on the 90 model but I don't know how to read the speaker code. Also the metal ID plate is missing from the back. The date code has it being a Aug of 91 model. I also didn't think the tweed was lacqured on the 1st reissues but only on the limited models. May be a ligedimate amp but the price is up there above what I want to pay. Can any one decode the speaker # on the link below? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370519048177&category=10171&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 Mike

If a bias pot has been added, then it's a pre LTD (unfortunately no pics to confirm). Laquer could have been applied by anyone, any time...I don't know any pre LTD owners whose amps are still raw tweed. ID plate could have been removed for laquering...can't be sure but there looks like pin holes in the back panel where the ID plate originally mounted? This makes it a few years prior to the LTD because late non-Ltd RIs had the metal tube cage around the tubes, removing this would have left exposed screw holes.
Cab looks like plywood (not a reason to avoid the amp however).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370519048177&category=10171&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 This amp was manufactured August of 1991 -he may have used the description from Fenders website mistakenly, not knowing there was a difference from the LTD. This is the amp you should be considering: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-Bassman-59-Reissue-Sep-1990-410-4x10-Combo-40W-/280692682581?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415a966f55

and to think I sold my RI(made in '95)for 500 bucks 12 years ago..and mine was flawless. That was back before I knew anything about tube swaps, etc. Now I'm kinda wanting another. Good luck on that one;let us know if you win it! ---------- Todd L. Greene

That looks to be in GREAT shape-no huge tears in the tweed, and all the white numbers/letters are still clearly legible. You did good! ---------- Todd L. Greene
