"would much rather have USPS bringing my packages than UPS or fed ex"

Not me. I mailed a check to Kinder Instruments on May 5. After waiting a while I asked John where the package is. He said he waits 14 days for a check to clear and that he would mail it "at the end of next week" (June 4). I still don't have it. The telephone number on his website is a fax number, I guess. (All I get are these weird tones.) He doesn't seem to check his e-mail every day (I e-mailed again yesterday), so here I am wondering if the package got lost in the mail. With UPS or FedEx, I would have a tracking number as well as much faster transit time.

John would do well by choosing a better carrier...And by communicating better with customers.

I've ordered a lot of items online. Many claim quick service and quite often you get an email the same day saying your items have shipped. Other times it's the next day. In either case, there are times I've received items in two days from clear across the country and other times I have waited a week or even two. I had a terrible experience from a company that was only an hour away from me. I think the problem isn't the post office . Most times when the shipper says your item has shipped all that means is they processed the shipping labels or entered it into the automated shipping system. It has been basically picked and packed. getting it to the post office is another matter and that could take an hour, a day or two days. If it takes more than same day then i say the shipper doesn't care (unless it is after hours obviously).
The good companies get it there same day and you have your stuff a couple of days later.

Rockin' Rons seems to have the process down and my experience with them has been great. 2 days from order to my door from him on the west coast (CA) and me on the east (PA).

I know I'be said this many times, but when someone does as good as Ron at what they do I have to speak out. I've purchased at least 20 harps from him and his service is consistantly awesome.

There is only the very rare exception that the USPS is to blame. 99.99% of the time it's the shipper that causes the delay. Too often "shipped" means "yes, we have it...we'll get to it this week"! Often it's "shipped" when the shipping dept gets the order; sometimes it's when the item is actuall boxed, but still sitting in some back room. From all I've heard about Ron's, it seems they process an order as soon as they receive it, and get it to their shipping dept within minutes, and out it goes on the next truck or drop-off...
