Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum but been playing harp on and off for over 20 years. Firstly apologies if this is a subject that's come up on the forum many times before. I have had a search through the archives but there seems to be lots of conflicting advice.
I've recently bought a Peavey Delta Blues 210 amp and my first impressions are that it's a really nice amp, although of course set up for guitar not harp. The obvious problem I'm having is feedback with the volume turned much beyond 2 or 3.
The 210 has 4 power tubes (EL84's) with a 12AX7 driver and two further 12AX7 pre-amp tubes.
I know virtually nothing about amps other than what I've learned from reading forums like this. Would you recommend swapping the 12AX7s for 12AU7s or something in between? Should I only swap the driver or do all the pre-amp tubes need to be changed? Is it just a question of trial and error, and is there any possibility of damaging the amp?
Lots of questions I know but hopefully you can help.
Many thanks in advance.

i know i had that amp some years ago-one just like it anyway. i kept the p1 with a 12ax7 and swapped the tubes in p2 and p3 for 12au7's. the idea being to put a strong signal into the amp and tame it further up the line with the 12au's. i never messed with the power tubes in mine. 9in fact that's about all i did to the amp was a 12a tube swap. i was sorry to let it go. that's a pretty good harp amp. mine had a speaker out so i could run different cabinets as well.

Thanks for the replay jbone. That's what I was planning to do as well based upon what I've read but I wasn't sure whether to leave the 12ax7 in p1. I've ordered a couple of 12au7s so fingers crossed it will work as yours did 'cos I really like the amp.
