Anyone know what kind of equipment Carlos uses. I've downloaded a couple of his albums, "Blue Mongrel' and "Just Your Fool' and then watched a few of his YouTube performances. I know he prefers Golden Melodys and it looks like a Sonny Jr. he is playing through from what I saw. Didn't notice any effects pedals, and couldn't make out the mic. Just wondering. Just another cool tone I'm liking. Thanks in advance

Great interview (thanks loads), but it didn't make mention of his amplified setup.

The equipment Carlos uses:

* Golden Melody Harmonicas (many thanks to Joe Filisko for showing how the proper setup of a harp is done. For custom work on your harps, phone Joe at 815 725 9095)

* an Electrovoice RE 10 microphone,

* (into a) Roland RE-501 Tape Echo unit,

* (into a) Fender Bassman '59 reissue; (on the cd "BLUES", the amp is a '66 Fender Princeton

That's what I was wanting to know. Forgive me if I overlooked the path to the answer. Thanks tmf714!

He was using an Edward Amp at the time of Blues Mongrel. He had an extensive review of it - he had the cleanest setup with a Greenback speaker - that has since been pulled from Harmony-Central (don't know why).

The amp is linked from his site, actually. 14w amp you can see pictured in some Youtubes. Before that he used a Bassman RI. He has recorded this decade with the newer Boss delay...Space Echo or something?

Just more info..

on 'steady movin' a 2008 recording he has listed in the liner notes

GMs
Electrovoice RE-10
Ed amp or spirit harp pro (depending on track)
sometimes with fulltone tube tape echo or boss RE-20

I live in Toronto and have had the honour of meeting the guy and had a lesson. His tone is so unique and his own I can fully agree with why you like it. While sitting across from him in a room with no mic or amps and hearing what he does on that little tin soldier makes it even more mind blowing to me.

He is now offering SKYPE LESSONS and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in what he does. He is a great teacher and gives it all away... no question he wouldn't answer or guidance he wouldn't offer.

Hope that helps.

J
