When I go to jazz jams if they play a blues
most likely it will be in F or another flat key.
Blues jams will usually be in the sharp keys.
I figure one is dominated as a sax preference the
other by a guitar preference.

not just sax and guitar.
Brass players favour keys with flats rather than sharps.
Violin players favour keys with sharps rather than flats.
On Sunday I'm the only horn [trombone] playing with stringed instruments in a folk dance band. Guess who will be suffering the horrible keys?
