For some reason, likely because he didn't have a harp in his hand, no one has really mentioned the molten lava hot fire that Duwayne created at HCH2 during and after Jason Ricci's performance. I heard a little guitar mixed in with harp, and all of a sudden, I look up and Jason's nowhere to be found.
I admit, i peed my pants in little squirts here and there while he was playing. A quick trip to the van to change undies, then after the set, I met Duwayne and told him.."You just made the baddest blues harp player alive get the f*** off the stage!!!
Much as we were all in awe of Sansone's Corn Whisky @ HCH1, so noted should be Duwaynes performace at HCH2.
And did you notice he was playing through that crappy little Squire Strat that they keep back in the kitchen as a spare? It's the cheap Chinese made Fender that they sell at Guitar Center for like 149 bucks.
I believe that was the best live guitar performance i've seen since Buddy Guy.
Just goes to show it's the player, not the gear. ----------
until now,I had never heard of this man-Is he the son of R.L Burnside?-that would be likely why he plays blues guitar so well and I have seen buddy guy and to be mentioned in the same breath speaks very highly of duwayne
Not sure why Jason left the stage but as great as Duwayne was he should have respected the fact that it was Jason's gig. Jason leads the band and Duwayne should have taken what was given.
Personally, I would have preferred to see Jason do a couple more with the Perry Family Band. The chemistry was great and they were all having a blast.
IMHO...Jason kinda got shit out of his finale. A jam would have been more appropriate after Jason ended his show on his terms.
