wish I could have been there and met charlie I have an old LP of his as a 1 man band he did a song about vietnam that lead me to think he was a vietnam vet

Groyster, he is a VietNam vet. His interview with Adam was great-he's deadpan funny. Great stories, fantastic entertainer.

being a vietnam vet myself,I can imagine that charlies experience there may be something that will stay in his memory for the rest of his life-charlie parker said if you have not lived it,it wont come out your horn for me it was a year long prolonged nightmare

When I was in my early twenties I went to the Augusta Heritage Blues Week 3 times. One of my instructors was Charlie. One time I was walking through the campus playing on my own. Charlie walked up to me and we did very little talking if any and just played harp together for a half hour. It was a very special moment in my life. This week on the forum has been kind of a memory lane for me.
