Us CCHC boys got up to Clarksdale on Thursday afternoon, and made a bee-line to Hopson Commissary. The day before, our back-up band backed out, as they got a guaranteed gig elsewhere, so we had to improvise.
Jeremy Bustillos(JBHarmonica), who is a member of the Navy Blues Band out of Memphis, stepped up to the plate, and showed up with amp, guitar, bass and his crazy harp mic. On several tunes, he'd play a bass line, loop it, and switch to guitar. A few songs, he looped both, then played harp. We also had our own Terry Bolinger on bass-an admitted beginner on the instrument but a great harp player, but he did well-just not able to play in any and every key.
I attempted to keep up on cajon, and was aided and rescued by kingoBad Danny, who brought a snare and brushes. A couple guys jumped on piano and/or alternated on cajon. It was fun, and a great opener for a stellar weekend.
I'd love to see vids from this, and any of the other jams leading up to HCH, i.e., Roosters, Ground Zero, Red's. I'd really like to see us common folk performing, not just the 'names', so if anyone has video/pics, post away!
i have seen several great pics on Facebook, and i've also posted my own on there. 'Friend' me!
I start it off with Deak from the Rooster's jam(I posted this on my Bassman Settings thread, but this is a more suitable place:
