I have a couple of Hohner Blues Harps, which I don't much like, and thought that I would play around a bit with their tunings. I note the screws are a weird type and was wondering what sort of screwdriver is needed to open them up?

Whilst on the subject of screw sizes I have a couple of Seydel Session Steels and note that they have a really strange nut on the cover plates. I don't intend on taking them apart other than for a clean but would like to know what tool is needed to hold the nut?

Thanks for your help.

The MS series takes a pozidriv #1 screwdriver. However, I bought one (Snap-on) and it still doesn't work all that well. So, Good luck!!!

When i first tried to open my Bluesharp up i thought it had a hex Screw or Alan key type of screw but its not.

Its just a regular cross type of screwdriver:o)

The real problem screws on the MS series are the cover plate screws and tho they're made of stainless steel, the slot that the screwdriver goes into is extremely delecate and using brute force and overtightening is something you should NOT be doing and if you substitute a Phillips#1 for a Pozidriv#1, use EXTREME caution because it makes things worse. The reed plate screws are made of brass and have more give to them and so they shouldn't be any real probelm for either screwdriver to work. The best Pozidriv screwdrivers are made by Wiha http://www.wihatools.com. Seydels uses Pozidriv #0 on their harps and their coverplate screws, like the MS series are cap screws/nuts and the same warning goes for those harps as well.

All MS harps, including the Blues Harps use Pozidriv #1 screwdrivers.

I use a flathead screwdriver on those Seydel cover screws.

I just throw them away and replace them with screws and nuts from my own supply--last I checked, you can get 3/8 inch 2-56 screws on Amazon--I think you have to buy the nuts separately. . .
