Report on that wedding... went down to Beckley, W.Va. for a few days to play a wedding. I spent a lot of time picking the right instruments.. I tried out a bunch of different axes, chromatics, diatonics, different tunings and keys and had my wife weigh in on the sounds. Settled on: For the Wagner "Here Comes the Bride" I used a B-radical paddy richter tuned in C.
For the exit Medellsohn Wedding March, I played that on a mandolin.
Bride and groom were very happy. everybody thought there was going to be no music, so it was a bit of a surprise when I popped up with a loud 1-4 blow tongue block octave for the "Dum, DUm, da dum, dum, dum, dum" that starts off the Here Comes the Bride song. It all went very well and was very well received.
