Here I am playing Easy. I have just recently gone 'amped'. Comments on my tone and playing welcome, especially criticism.

I do mess the timing up a bit. I picked up some bad timing habits for that tune long ago, and I'm slowly fixing them.

Recorded on a cheap PC mic.

It might have been great, it might have been awful...I can't tell as it didn't record!

5F6H: Works here. Have you tried playing it on youtube rather than on here?

OK, it's only on the R channel @ I only put in the L earbud (never use the crappy laptop speakers)...

Yes, you have got the hang of that one...recording mic is overdriven, so tricky to assess "tone"...perhaps back the amp and/or recording level off a little, remember it only has to be loud enough to be picked up by the mic. But sounds like a solid attempt, playing-wise.

That's a fun tune to play. I recorded this a few years ago when I had a Masco PA head for a bit.

It is a JT30 with an MC151 element in it.

@Philippe,nice attempt.

My advice would be to learn how to Tongue Block. You need a nice fat tone for Easy which for me comes with Tongue Blocking:o)

Ant: I am TBing everything except warbles and the first bends :)

5F6H: I'll experiment with better recording methods! Thanks for the tip.

@Philippe,Sorry after listening back i can tell you are TBing. I only had a quick chance to check it on my phone at work, sorry about that.

For me i think your tone just needs fattening up a little bit. Otherwise you do the song justice very well:o)

You said that you recently went 'amped' and you were using a cheap PC mic. That might be the problem there, i'd like to here you play it through a decent harp mic.

Ant, no worries. Here's another take. Would like to hear your impressions on it!

I am using a 6"-speaker amp.

Much better than the first take...took your eye off the ball a little at 0:54 but overall pretty solid. If your 6" speaker amp has no adjustment to the tone controls, that might be a limiting factor. Mix up your wahs, BW had lots of little tricks there & huge hands, try wah'ing from the heels of your hands as well as opening the palm with/from the fingers.

Like a lot of Horton's instrumentals, its a track that you can keep learning from for years, as your playing develops.

It indeed has no tone controls. Thanks for the tips!

Nice. Keep on doing it. Don't be afraid to deviate. Big Walter recorded that tune a lot. He never recorded it the the same way twice.
