I took the leap and made my first purchase with Rockin' Rons just now. I searched all around my town and the only Bb harp I could find was a Special 20 for $47. Nooo thank you!

I ordered a set of replacement reedplates very late on a Friday afternoon in April. They were in the mail that was delivered to me on that MONDAY! It's almost like Ron uses a transporter from Star Trek or something.

But, in reality, I think it's because he ships almost immediately after receiving an order. This is the second time I've ordered from Ron and each time delivery was at warp speed. Good prices, too.

I made an order with Ron then went to the store. At the store I remembered that I needed him to wait a few days to send them since I would be out of town.

I got home to shoot him and e-mail and had already received one with my tracking number.

I think is office is in the back room of a Post Office.

Mandow he did the very same thing for me one time, I wouldn't think of ordering harps from anyone else but Ron. He will work with you every way he can , and get those harps to you quick, at a fair price.

I ordered 3 suzuki manjis from rockin ron a few months back.I live in the UK and was having difficulties ordering on his website.Ron noticed this at his end and telephoned me while I was still sat at the computer and talked me through it.I received the harps in less than a week, and even with custom charges,(you takes your chances!)still saved a few quid.
Rockin Rons customer service is second to none...fact!
I should also add that his website is really user friendly....it was me making things difficult.

I've ordered probably at least 15 harps from Ron. I'll never buy anywhere else as long as his business practices remain the same. Every time is awesome.

Hey Miles and Rich,
Just traded a Fender Evil Twin for this. 16" F 4.5 Newt. The OTA is all aluminum. Weighs about 300 pounds. Built for the navy by Ford Aerospace. Im going to convert it to a Serrurier truss on a EQ fork. I just finished build the digital setting circles interface.

I ordered a Big River, some key labels, and an MS reed plate in C from Ron on Friday when driving home from work. I was mildly disappointed that they weren't there when I arrived home. But I get home on Monday, and there was the order! How this guy gets the post office to move so fast I'll never know!

I ordered some B flat Suzuki Manji reed plates from Rockin' Ron's last week, they were at my door in 2 days flat, California to Chicago. I also got a call from them to update my mailing address, which moved since I moved my office last year. They absolutely rock over there.

Back to the original post..,
Hobo brings up an interesting point. If the guitar player(s) wants to tune down a 1/2 step, on who falls the transposition onus? Everybody else in the band? All a harmonica player has to do is call up Rockin Ron and get a couple of flat harps shipped out, but what about the bass and keyboard player? What about the drummer?

If the guitar player wants to play in the flat keys, F- Db on the circle of fifths, that's a bonus for the brass section.

Seems to me, a musician who wants to play with a band should be able to play in any key. If that means having a bunch of instruments, so be it. It is a lot easier to buy a new harp than to learn a new scale!

Early brass players, before valves or hand-slides, had a set of crooks, one for each key, to change the pitch of the horn with.

I'm new, first post/question. Don't have formal music training, but have been doing harp by ear, the Jam Camp, YouTube for a couple of years. Been on stage once with a blues band and they didn't throw me off. My first question is why would the band tune a half step down? Personal preference? Is there something about a flat key that suits their music? Thanks.

could be to match vocal range, looser strings easier to play or that their guitar wanker hero did it so they do it too.
