I bought a Harpgear 2 amp a couple of years ago just after I started playing the harmonica, I refused to listen to advice on forums that you should play for a year or two before you buy your first amp.

It didn't take long before realised that the amp just made my bad playing sound louder and worse. I made a few poor mic choices and it took another year before I bought a mic that I was happy with.

My Harpgear has had less than 10 hours playing time on it in 2 years, but I have decided that am now ready for amplified harp.

The thread about 'learning the blues harp' and the conversation about assimilation got me thinking about how I had a dependency on tabs and I never really put any time into trying to work things out myself.

Recently I made a decision to break away from tabs, Walking By Myself is one of the songs I am working on at the moment and it is a great song to blw the cobwebs out of the amp.
