This is audio recorded by Mike Feldman at a recent reunion gig in Champaign, IL, with the band I play harp in, the Martini Brothers. The band on this song has Jerry Erickson on guitar, Jeff Kerr on guitar, Dan Henry on bass, and Dave Ohlsson on drums. We had other players/singers on other songs. This is our first gig since December 2009, due to the illness and passing last summer of our lead singer, Greg Baker. We had not rehearsed since then, though all of us play in other groups.
The music was recorded "quick and dirty" with two mics, with vocals from the monitor w/o effects. It was tough getting by without the vocalist who had been the center of the band.
I sang a lot more at this gig than my previous one or two songs per gig, and I find a lot lacking in my vocals. Anyway, I had fun at this gig, and I thought I would share some of my fun with the forum.
Note: There are at least two other bands in the US with the same band name, Martini Brothers. We are the band based in Central Illinois.

I hope I embedded correctly! ----------

Good recording. The mix and balance is pretty good for a live recording.
If those are your vocals, no need to ever apolagize.
The band sounds nicer than any group I have ever played in.
Your harp playing is fine by me, better than mine. The ONLY thing I could offer as constructive criticsm, check the tuning of your harp on that 4 and 5 draw. I think it would of sounded sweeter if was a little sharper. (maybe it was just the 5 draw) ---------- The WV State Harmonica Championship at The Diamond Teeth Mary Blues Festival Aug 27th & 28th 2011, Huntington,WV

They are my vocals, and this was the best of the lot vocally and on harmonica. A couple others turned out pretty good.
I used a Shure 55SH Series II and I think that sometimes the proximity effect muddied the sound. I will try a different mic next time. The PA EQ needed adjustment, too, but I was preoccupied about keeping my lyrics straight on a lot of new songs. Rock Me Baby was one I had sung quite a few times before.
Thanks for the positives on vocals and harp. The band has some good musicians, and it is a pleasure to play with them. It makes you want to play the best that you can.
I will check the tuning on the Special 20. I think that one of my C Sp20s had a flat reed I had re-tuned, and it could be that reed going flat again. I already bought a replacement harp. One of these days I will transplant reeds.
It could be that I got carried away and played too hard, since I often play at the limit anyway. That night I also blew out a LO F natural minor I had used for 4 years for Green Onions.
