In case you guys have never come across this book, and since the Mississippi River is nearing record levels(looking at surpassing 1927 levels) this book may be a good read for you.
Rising Tide
I just found out my grandfather and his family stayed in place during the flood on the Arkansas side by building a bridge between their home and their store and walking back and forth for supplies and providing room for others who couldn't escape.
Since they are blowing levees again... I think it kind of brings it all forward and wraps nicely into blues history.
