Here's an idea, nothing else. If you have the time. Find yourself a nice console amp like the Admiral (2) EL84, 5Y3, 12AX7,6aV6...and look for one that is in fairly good shape. They're out there. It doesn't have to be an Admiral. It can be anything with the same tube configuation. 6V6, or for more power(watts) 6L6. I find the EL84's reliable and great sounding. I'll post a sound clip later. But you could do it kinda like this..
Admiral Rola Homebrew.. and the wiring is not super simple, but navigating your way is fun and fairly
easy. The tone is awesome...the 12 " Rola smooth cone is plenty fat.
Admiral/Rola 12" (2) EL84
total investment...around 450.00. I had a friend carpenter build the cab for me. That's where most of the money went.

$450 will get a person with soldering skills a tweed Champ or Princeton kit from a variety of sources. A few years ago, I built a tweed Champ clone from a Mojo reseller for about $425. It's a killer little amp.

Actually, it was more like $300. But I would want

more, if I ever sold it.

It sounds killer for guitar, too. I'm gonna clean it
up cosmetically.

I'll post another shot of it when that day comes.

Hey! those kits sound good..

I might do that someday.

Thanks for the tip.

Do they supply the speaker, too?

Yes, most kits I've seen do include the speakers and cabinet. I'm hoping to order the 5E7 Bandmaster from the above link in the next month or so. Their prices include your choice of covering, different handles and grill cloth, too.

I bought the Champ kit from Marsh Amps. Everything was included. The speaker was a Weber Sig, which I eventually blew out. I replaced it with a vintage series Weber.
