I know this isn't strictly blues-related, but I just got a new A Harmonic Minor Harp and I want to learn some of those Gypsy/Eastern European tunes. I can't seem to find any instructional material for this style other than JP Allen's "Gypsy Harmonica" video. Does anyone know of any resources for learning to play this style?

I have an Am & Gm Harmonic Minor harps & I think your best tutorial is your ears. I purchased the JP Allen Gypsy video & found it to be a waste of money.

The Harmonic Minors are easy to play but unless you have a knowledge of what tunes you want to play they are limited. I sought out some Russian tunes like Stenka Rasin & Volga Boatman etc.

Of course you can play almost anything from Waltzing Matilda to the National Anthem but it will sound like a Serbian rendition- kinda weird!

Lee Oskar used a B harmonic minor for side one of his first solo album - titled 'Lee Oskar'. You can find it on e-bay (cd/vinyl). Check it out.
