There was a thread here a while back where I believe a member of this forum said they had volunteered to help Chris's wife return the harps that Chris was working on, regardless of their state of work.
Does anyone here know of the status of the harp returns or a person to contact about this?
Has anyone that had harps on Chris's bench been returned?

I sent Chris an Ultimate mic that was to be in exchange for a custom harp - a month or two before his death. I never got the harp and don't expect to see the mic ever again. But I can't bring myself to bug his wife so I'm not pursuing it. I'm posting this in exchange for "good guy" points. ---------- /Greg

Yep. I had two harps paid for that he was well past the promised date for. I contacted him and he promised me no other harps would go out before mine. (A low D and a low F) He mentioned the low F was ready and the low D was close. But, he was battling an illness and of course I said, "Don't sweat it. Take care of yourself." I certainly wish things hadn't turned out the way they did for him. He was way too young to go. Seemed like a very giving guy, too. Would I love to have the harps? Yes. But I just don't think I could send his poor wife anything more to worry about. I too seek as many 'good guy" points as I can get. :^)

Oops, after re-reading the subject line, I guess I should have worded it differently. I highly doubt there is a contact person for the actual estate (that would be hanging out on MBH) So hence not Chris's estate - just the harp business.
I seem to recall a member of this forum that lived near where Chris did and they volunteered to handle Chris's harp work bench. And if I recall correctly they actually started going through it all.
People that had harps on the bench wanted them back, no matter what point in progress they were. ---------- Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy. -Dan Castellaneta

After years of reading about custom harps, I took the plunge. One week before Chris's untimely death, he deposited the $700 check I sent him for custom harps. I waited two months before composing what I believed to be a thoughtful letter, simply explaining $700 was a ton of money to me. I've not heard a peep, and like Greg I doubt I'll see the money. Many lessons to learn here.

As I have learnt recently with the death of my parents, everything is put on hold or in probate while the law sorts out the tax postition etc
It is very frustrating for all, but remember the family are in shock and grieving, they need the lawyers to handle proceedings and will distance themselves from Chris's business as is necessary for them to move forward.
Debts will be paid, IF there are funds to do so and it can take months!!. Do not expect your harp with a letter of apology; the man has passed on and there it is.
RIP man

I paid for two of his best in April 2010.I had not wanted to hassle him, and was relaxed. The last time we spoke was just before he died. Chris said they were "Almost ready and you'll have them by Christmas". Like many, I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I liked him and loved his music. In January I respectfully notified his widow with a condolence message and brief details of the business arrangement made with Chris. It does not surprise me at all to have heard nothing/yet. What a loss his family are enduring ! While I too would like to think my harps are neatly wrapped and merely await shipping from Chris's workbench.... I suspect this is not reality. The loss to family and close friends in Chris's passing is far, far greater than mine.
