Tooka suggested on another thread that we do some collaborative jams, so I've come up with four tracks anyone's free to use (in my usual low-fi style I'm afraid).
Track 1: Key of D, G harp, 6 choruses
Track 2: Key of E, A harp, 7 choruses (my playing's a bit weird on this one - I got carried away)
Track 3: No guitar on this one. Key of D, solo harp in G
Track 4: No harp on this one. Key of E, A harp. This is a jam track I made to practise Big Walter's Easy.
Hey I like this Ive been jamming with you, Jodan all night,I could see this helping me learn ,Great idea you guys,I hope you dont mind me taging along.I cant match your chops but im still having fun;-) ---------- Hobostubs
Glad you like them, guys. Just done another one featuring some dodgy 3rd position playing and a couple of absolutely deliberate bum notes on the guitar(this one's in A):
Great stuff Phil. Nice to hear some more chromatic.
Good tone and a great mix of octaves and single notes.
You could try some chord vamps too to keep the groove going. Have a listen to this. Apologies its me playing, too lazy to find a youtube clip.
Play the 4 or 5 note chord when you lift your tongue. http://www.modernbluesharmonica.com/board/board_topic/5560960/1239583.htm ---------- The Pentatonics Myspace Youtube
"Why don't you leave some holes when you play, and maybe some music will fall out".
7LJI: Thanks for the tips, good idea on the chord vamps, I like how you use them.
In your vid, you use series of octaves with ease and not always with tongue slaps. Is there a trick to moving to different octaves fluently? I am finding it quite challenging to move around when the harp is jammed in far enough to actually play them, and to keep the tongue at the right place. Maybe just more practice?
This follows the same structure as Steve Guyger's 'My new car' which is an awesome track. My version's pretty lame by comparison (no drums, some dodgy notes) but it's okay for a practice tool. I did this because I find it tough to play over tracks that stay on the I chord (note that both solos revert to the 12 bar blues structure though).
Well, it took a while but I did it. Had trouble with my G harp so I've just ordered another one tonight. I had a fiddle with my current one and it sounded just OK so I put this together.
This has made me realise how thin my sound is compared to yours jodan. What was your set-up again? I know you used to refer to it as quite "mickey mouse" but boy it is darned good.
Cool stuff tooka. If anything, I think you could increase your volume in the mix - it sounded a bit distant at times. The 2-5 draw sounded sweet - a cool electric sound. My setup is just a dynamic mic into the laptop. The biggest problem I have is getting rid of noise. Audacity's noise removal function just makes everything sound like it's underwater, noisy water. What's your setup for this?
Don't laugh. It's a homemade mic into a Roland MicroCube with a touch of Chorus and Delay effects, then directly into the line in on my computer. I need to fiddle a bit more I think.
I made an mp3 of your file and play that back through my Creative player whilst recording it all again with Movie Edit Pro which has a good sound recording facility. ----------
