Man, I'd forgotten about him. He used to tear up The Bluebird in Bloomington Indiana back in the early 80's. Ten cent beer if you had your Blues brew mug. What a flashback, thanks.
We opened for Gate in the early 90,s,a super, super nice man and one hell of a player. He sat at the front table when we opened the show with his cowboy hat and pipe. After a couple of tunes I started to get a whiff of something green,if you know what I mean. After the set he was very complimentary and I had mentioned to Paul the owner of the Stanhope House at that time and he said If its Gatemouth Brown,he can do whatever he wants.BTW,Thanks for that,I never knew that he played harp.
Check out Gate's Salty Blues on Peacock for some tasty harp playing. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
