Hey Guys, I know I must be crazy, but here are a couple of videos I recorded of my blues band, Gary D. Hughes & BoxCarBlue. I hope you like them and will gladly accept criticizm which is where the crazy part comes in.
great job! on two great songs- you really captured that 'feel' - check out Carey Bell's Mellow Down Easy CD - he also does a super job - and of course the best is Butter's! ---------- ~Banned in Boston!
I will offer my criticism. I say these things only as someone that wants to see every harp player do their best.
1.) Jump into the song - On Mellow Down Easy, I felt like you guys were getting ready for ages before starting. It's apparent you guys rehearsed; I would try getting right into a song during rehearsal.
2.) Work on your upper register playing if you're going to use it. Mojo was going good and strong until you threw in that flourish at the end.
Overall, I think you did well. Your venue looked really nice, which is awesome. The crowd enjoyed it and that's really important.
The band groove, vocal and set harmonica licks are good. The harmonica tone and solos need work. IMHO in electric blues the tone is important and it can't come from a mic.
Tone equals emotion. I think Muddy Water said something like that. ---------- Emile "Diggs" D'Amico a Legend In His Own Mind How you doin'
Nice work, sounds good and clean. Diggs has a point, particularly with mojo working.. i could be wrong but a tighter cup on the mic might help in addition to the opening up mouth/throat/chest
