I recorded these tonight via tapping into the old blues men. This isn't about trying to sound like anyone, not even me. It is about letting these spirits use me as a channel. It is like the less you play and the more space you leave the deeper it gets. I love these times. It calls me to play. I was sitting in the house watching an old Ray Milland movie and it called me and said play the G harp solo. It is like time stands still and all the old greats come out to cheer you on. What an audience! walter

Zadozica, You shouldn't have to pay. I know if you're using a smart phone it wont play (I spent a lot of time on the site on my phone before I actually logged in on a real computer). Once I used my PC his links work just fine and the music starts automatically.

Walter, I've listened to most everything you put up here in the past few months and really dig it. In addition to your awesome music abilities I'm a big fan of your outlook. Keep it man!!!

Zadozica: Thanks for trying. I am not technologically savy enough to answer why it won't play. I was born way before the computer age and only use the technologies enough to meet my recording/posting on the net needs. Heck, I used my cell phone 4 minutes since january.....

703: Thanks! People like you keep me inspired. It is very moving to learn people actually listen to the multitude of songs I post. I will keep it up till the inspiration quits or I die. Hopefully I will die before it quits. Walter

@waltertore:

Clear blue skies, shorts and T-shirt weather here in London UK, feet up on my desk, listening to your music, watching the bees and the cherry blossom. Life's good here, hope it is there...

EDIT: "the older I get" is making me smile!

Hi captainbliss: sounds like a great day to be in London! We are in for summer like weather tomorrow. I miss the near eternal sunshine of Texas(but to dam hot/humid 6 months of the year) and California Bay area(near perfect temps all year) that was my home for 25 years. Ohio is more like London weather.....

The older I get the less notes and more space concept is finally becoming me. I have been able to play this way for years but now it is me instead of me trying to capture it and call it mine. The only way to make it part of you is time spent on the planet and time spent on the planet playing. One can get old and never get it cause they didn't dedicate their life to it, and one can be young/dedicate their life to it/play 10 hours a day and still won't get it till they spend the years on the planet as well. I did the latter for decades and now am getting older and it is coming together/ closer to fruitation. People like SBWII videos show him at the end of a lifetime of both of these things. No one can rush/buy/ time in these 2 areas, but just about any 1/2 way decent player can master the notes/pharasing/tones in a fairly short time. That is just mechanical reproduction. The secret is to explore the now to the fullist. That is what leads to the ongoing fruitation to a sound that is all yours vs. a copy/conglomorate sound of others. Make sense??? Walter

Hi Walter. Enjoyed your songs. Like your philosophy.

For me, a few soulful notes carefully placed are much more powerful than a bunch of notes played really fast...

I am trying to think of 'negative space' when I play as well.

For me, sometimes focus on technique swamps the soulful side...

Cheers.

BronzeWailer: Thanks! Try not to think. Thinking kills all good music. it makes it technical instead of soulfull even when you are thinking to leave space..... I know, because as soon as I start thinking when I am playing, it dies instantly.

Zadozica: I am glad you liked them!

Sage advice Walter. My playing partners/teacher have noticed too. As soon as I start thinking, the playing goes down the tubes.

BronzeWailer: Here is how I know I am not thinking - I walk into my songs. By this I mean literaly becoming them. I feel the emotions I am singing about, the smells of the environment, the temperature of it, the people in the song are part of my life, and basically I am no longer Walter but the characters in the song.

Andy: Thanks! I enjoy sharing my songs. Since I have quit being my own booking agent/promoter the live gigs have evaporated and posting them on the net somehow keeps me feeling connected. I miss the live gigs, but not on second of the booking/hustling end. Life has a great way of putting things together for you in positive ways you never dreamed of.

hi captainbliss: that is a great video. It makes sense big time! Thanks for posting it. I will work on the tabs later tonight. It is a very simple song that even a beginner can easily master. All you need to do is buy some custom harps......... :-) walter

I like that box! o know who makes it? I want to buy stock. I think it would be a great investment for my retirement! think most people would buy it - it would cut more time off the learning curve. Maybe they will develop it further to duplicate the actual greats genes. Then you could buy a wolf, LW, SB, etc box -:)
