I picked this up at Guitar Center today. I looked it up on the web but couldn't find anything about black ones. I realize it won't sound any different but was curious if anyone knew if this was a GC special order or something. I think it looks really cool.
Thanks ---------- Ozark Rich

Looks pretty sweet! The 7-100 is on my short list of "first amps" for Christmas this year. Assuming I feel confidant enough to plug in at the store and try a few out. What mic are you using?

I usually use my Shure 520DX. It sounds good with the Pignose and doesn't feedback as bad as the Astatic JT30. ---------- Ozark Rich

the 7-100 is a low z amp while the usual 520 and other bullets are high z. this WILL lead to feedback if the amp is turned up much usually. i had a 7-100 and an 80's 520 that just would not perform anyplace other than at the house. i don't have a solid solution but i suspect that the amp would work better with a low z mic. or for a similar price or not a lot more, there are a few high z amps out there like the epi valve jr. or the small blackheart that may work better with a 520 or jt30.
just a couple cents from an old hand.

The 520DX will feedback but it's not real bad. It still gets plenty loud for practice and has a great tone despite the fact that it's SS. I even use it with the line out for larger amps.
I'll have to try a low z with it sometime. I prefer bullet mics, just for the style if nothing else, and have a low z packed away somewhere. ---------- Ozark Rich

Really? How low? People have been putting high z guitar pickups through them for close to forty years.

The Pignose 7-100 amp only sounds good with a Hi-Z mic plugged into it. If you use a Low-Z mic it just doesn't drive it enough.
