Hi everyone,

I've been playing around with my Promaster. I've bought a set of valved reedplates and love the extra expressiveness. However, I've got a problem with the upper 4 draw notes. I can get the bends and I'm using a TB embrochure, but playing very gently. The unbent notes are fine, but as soon as I try and bend, I get a whistling not unlike trying to OB on a Lee Oskar.

I think someone here mentioned gapping may be the reason. In which case, do I raise or lower the action of the reed?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Steve

If you can play it very sofly, but have problems after that then I would say they are to tight. You have to open it up and just look at it. Open one of your other harps up that play well and compare it to that.

I have a similar problem and posted it on Facebook" Winslow Yerxa and Brian Brazil suggested I look for burrs in the reed slot with a magnifying glass, or possibly a crooked reed. I see neither. So before I add bees wax, perhaps I'll mess with the gapping... although I hate to (another can of worms)

Thanks as always to Kevin Baker. So many times he's correct.
