Hi everyone. I know this technique is probably old hat with you pros nonetheless hopefully you will suffer me this noobie question. In this audio track someone uploaded on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RufmCupNros I would like to know the technique used from 1:10 to 1:25. It sounds as if he's combining the 2 draw and 3 blow someway but I can't quite get it. Thanks tons,Asberrys.
There's no special technique here - the player is leading in with a 3 draw bend, then playing a series of 2 draw notes with what I call a "dip bend" to punctuate the note.
That said, I don't have the best ear or fullest knowledge of harmonica technique so others may hear more
hes playing a lot of 2 draws then playing 4 draw 3 half step bend and back to lots of 2 draws. to articulate the 2 draws you kind of say little words ka and ga and so on- actually vocalise it first. hope this helps.
He's bending the three draw up from the two step bend to the one step bend (from the second to the minor third, spoken in musical terms) - and then back to the two draw (root).
Welcome! And... Thanks for the link. Enjoyed it. You're right about the player alternating between 2D and 3B. I suspect the trick will involve adding in an extra, syncopated 2D here or there. For the exact pattern, maybe one of the drummer/harpers here at MBH will offer the best help?

EDITED to correct spelling (it's late here in London...)

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I can do this triplet on the 4 blow exclusively with an initial mouth puff and using throat vibrato for the two remaining notes in the triplet. I can't achieve this effect on the 2draw or 3blow however.Too much inertia in the reeds. I am a beginner so perhaps my vibratos will get stronger. It is a wonderful hoedown intro that seems to be harder to execute than its simplicity belies. Thanks again everyone. Excellent forum.
