On the New Year thread I posted that before my 1yr anniversary of learning harmonica I would like to play in public or try busking.
Well tonight I played in public for the first time. I work as primary school teacher and at our school tonight we had a rock awards concert for the kids as part of a project they have been doing.
An hour or so before it was due to start I was getting the amps and stuff set up and being there was no one around I thought I'd have a sneaky shot of my harmonica to see what it sounded like in the hall.
As I was playing about I got busted by another member of staff who said I should play while all the parents and kids arrive, I could have said no but thought I'd give it a go.
I had some backing tracks on my ipod which I managed to hook up and played my way though "sittin on top of the world" and "can't be satisfied" I was pretty mushy to begin with, didn't always hit the right note and was pretty nervous but it was still pretty good fun and I'm happy I gave it a go. I even got some applause from the 100+ audience :o)
Sadly no video that I know of but that was another resolution so I'll have to work on that.
Has anyone else made progress on any resolutions that they made?
Greg - also managed to cut down on my chocolate intake.

That's cool. I applaud your public debut.
But here's something to keep in mind - my guess is that probably nobody noticed any wrong note(s)...unless there was a blues harp player in the audience. I highly doubt little Johnny's dad said "did you hear that? He missed the blue 3rd, and a reed stalled on an overblow!"

it was lucky you had bt on ipod and harps on hand!!
and to get a standing ovation from the sold out crowd!! bonus!
(i know. but who's gonna contradict you, right?)
btw- where did you get the bt for "cant be satisfied"?

Congrats on your debut!
Public playing is on my list but yet to achieve. I've promised myself to play at a jam before autumn. I have nailed two other resolutions though:
I gave up smoking (Saving about the cost of one MB per week!)
Got a new puppy (Border Collie called Martin)
