Greetings everyone, Long time listener, first time caller here. I have been listening to the new Charlie Musselwhite album and lovin it. "Just you, just blues" is my favorite track and I am trying to figure out the key.. Obviously still green enough that I can't seem to figure it out and I can't find any tabs for the song.
Thank you for any help

First of all welcome!
Second of all, you won't find any tabs of that song. Even some of the older stuff doesn't seem to have any tabs.
Third, depending on how many harp keys you own, you can try to determine it yourself by playing the tonic notes and see if it matches. For First position, the tonic is 1B and 4B, 2nd postion is 2D and 6B. 3rd is 1D and 4D.
Give that a shot. He could be playing 5th postion or something and it gets complicated.

@RiverDragon
Had a brief listen on LastFM - no harp on what I heard though
Sounds like it's in A, so a D harp would work

@River. Take your C harp and put this song on. Play the 2 blow. That's an E. Do you hear how that note works throughout the song? It is the "root" note. Now - if you can learn to hear that note when you want to know the key of a song, and you memorize the names of the notes on the first 4 holes of your C harp, you'll be using your C harp as a pitch pipe and can figure the key of ANY song. Learning to hear the "root" note of a tune is an important skill. It may or may not come naturally but you can certainly learn it. It helps me to hum the note first, until I'm sure its right - THEN find it on the C harp. ---------- /Greg
