I love the phrasing, the style.
I don't quite understand the the lyrics.
Can some please explain "It's Got to be Your Funeral, or My Trial " ?

That's a very good question...I've always just taken it for granted, but what does that mean, exactly?

Isn't it "your funeral *and* my trial"? I always assumed it was a murder threat.

@7Dave...I've heard it both ways. The raspiness in SB II's singing is chilling.
So direct.
Not as powerful as Wolf's, but unmistakable.

That vid is great ! Obviously, the music and technique with hand flutter vibrato and breathing phrasing is terrific.
But the pan to the audience is surreal. All those suits and glasses !

Are those the Chess brothers in the front ?
One dude in the back has on sunglasses !
Others are openly smoking in the background.

"your funeral AND my trial" - 'and' , not 'or' is correct - and the threat is very clear - even though it couldln't be sung any sweeter.

Sonny Boy is the king in my book. Can you imagine telling your wife to "cut out the off the wall jive" or you're gonna kill her?!!! We're in a totally different world now than these old blues masters came from.
