Reputedly, Rice Miller ( SB II ) met up with RJ at a juke joint in Three Forks, Mississippi. Miller warned RJ not to drink from an open bottle, but Johnson was obstinate, and unpolitely told SB II to mind his own business. It's unclear as to who put the poison in the bottle, or if it was even intended for RJ...but it just adds to the legend.
[ BTW, I'm producing a show for May 8 ..calling it " 100 Years at the Crossroads - The Life, Legend, and Music of Robert Johnson ". I have a lineup of some incredible players. If you're near the Central Coast, be sure and keep it in mind. ]
