I can TB bend either by changing the position of my tongue
or by keying my tongue almost stationary and using more of my throat(alot deeper) or a combonation of tongue position and throat.

I've heard 2 schools of though on if you should be using your throat or tongue.

What do you use to bend for all you tongue blockers?

I thought I was using the back of my tongue, but after messing around right now to check it out, I think I am actually using my throat?!?

I say whatever works and sounds good to you.
I have found for myself that more of the lo note bending is back-of-the-throat, diaphragm, whwre the mid's and hi's are tongue placement.

Experiment with octaves ( or what I call split fives ) with throat/snorting bends. Just don't overdo it. I'm sure Cotten does this, but he ain't sayin'.

Use the throat or the tongue for a bend? Yes. . .

My 2cents. Use the throat to bend. This will cause the throat to constrict which in turns will pull the back of the tongue. Bending can also be done by arching the tongue. However, I believe using the throat will give you better tone and volume.

Using the throat is faster, more precise and produces deeper and more even tone and a more even attack. And it can be done either LP or TB.
