Since my girlfriend is a full time fiddler, lately I've been tagging along to a bunch of old-time fests. I've decided that I would like to learn some old-time tunes so I can join in the jams sessions. I just picked up Glenn Weiser's "Irish and American Fiddle Tunes for Harmonica" book, but was wondering if anyone could recommend any other books, CD's, DVD's or websites worth looking into? Thanks, -Ryan

Check out 'A Band in a Waistcoat pocket', by Ray Grieve, a great little book which comes with two CD's of historical recordings. The harmonica had a huge history in Australia, with big competitions in town halls with big prize money, as well harmonica orchestras, such as The North Sydney tramways mouth organ band.
Let me know if you can't track it down. ---------- Lucky Lester

I have only seen the book having borrowed it from a public library, but was able to buy the double CD's online. ---------- Lucky Lester

I am not sure what stage you are at with your harmonica playing, but if I wanted to play old-time music I would book a few lessons with Grant Dermody to get me going.

I'll have to check out Grant Dermody. I can't say that I've ever heard of him? Thanks for the tip! ----------
